Serios usually used a high speed Polaroid film for his images. Ambient light in a room was often bright enough to make an exposure; however, he used a camera that had a Polaroid wink lightattached.

This electronic flash went off each time the shutter was tripped and the light reflected from a nearby face or clothing would be sufficient to expose the film.
