XANADU
Abby and I were permitted to spend
over four hours in the Big Room,on our special preview
tour. However, my ancient body was not
happy in the 99 percent humidity so after two hours of concentrated
photography we returned through the airlock to the Visitors'
Center.
(The temperature
and humidity are carefully monitored and controlled to preserve the
fragile environment. The Big Roomwill be closed for tours from
the middle of April through the middle of October because well over
1000 bats use the room for a maternity roost.)
