The Intiwatana
Each time one looks at the Intiwatana it seems to be another sculpture. Lighting and angle make a difference. The protrusions and facets may have meanings not yet contemplated or that will ever be explained.
An Arizona astronomer has a theory that a star map is part of the Intiwatanta. He believes that four constellations are represented on the stone --- the Southern Cross, the Summer Triangle, the Pleiades and the Llama. The constellations are not viewed in the usual way but viewed from far above, that is from the stars. It is as though the symbols were projected from this vast distance. Perhaps the triangle in the foreground may represent the Summer Triangle and the protrusion above, at the corner, the Pleiades. The professor's theory is yet unpublished. When more information is available an addendum will appear in this web site section.
As they leave Intiwatana on very steep stairways, precarious for Abby and Nile at their age, the next stop is visible --- the site of the Sacred Rock.
