Enroute to the Sacred Rock

Walking toward the Sacred Rock and then looking back to the south, one has a different perspective of Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu Mountain rises behind the Guardhouse. The Pyramid is about the same height as the Guardhouse from this viewpoint.

Differences in time, place and direction can effect dramatic changes in the appearance of a single site. The next image of the Pyramid looks north, the opposite direction from the view above.
