
ON THE EDGE of the Ceremonial Circle is a low flat rock, shown above. It is roughly rectangular, about 18 x 30 inches. The top surface is almost exactly level.
THE PROMINENT drawings on the level surface are two circles, each divided into nine segments. A dot is pecked into one segment of each circle.
THESE CIRCLES could serve as a counting method to measure the approximate days between the equinox and a solstice.
THE NEXT PAGE demonstrates how the circles can be used to keep track of days using small rocks as counting chips.
